Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants. In honor of their achievement, pictured is a rare 1966 Topps short print Gaylord Perry Giants Card, Card #598, the last card in the set.

1958 Bromide Photo Card and Corresponding Menko Card The Bromide (left) features Japanese hall-of-famers: Giants Manager Tetsuharu Kawakami (in kimono) and rookie phenom Shigeo Nagashima (in uniform). The image was also used to create the Menko playing card on the right.

1952 Mother’s Cookies Chuck Connors A scarce regional card issued on the West Coast a few years before Connors would become a household name as Lucas McCain in The Rifleman television series.

19th Century Hartshorn’s Shade Rollers Trade Cards In the 19th Century, companies and manufacturers created “Trade Cards” to distribute as promotional items. 1977 Topps Star Wars Sticker Card A behind-the-scenes image of a very focussed George Lucas tending to Greedo. Love the straw coming out of Greedo’s mouth, presumably enabling the costumed actor to get some ventilation or a drink between takes. Great shot, great colors.

1949/1950 Topps Felt Back: Joe Paterno, Brown University Topps’ first attempt at a football card set captures the legendary coach during his college days. (Actual card is very small, not much larger than a postage stamp)

1894 Mayo Cut Plug Tobacco Card In appreciation of Football season starting this week- This is one of the earliest football trading cards and features one of the Poe brothers (great nephews of Edgar Allen Poe) playing for Princeton University. 1967 Wacky Packages Die Cut Cards The ’67 Die Cuts were the first incarnation of the Wacky Package Series. Made to be punched out of the cards, licked and stuck all over the place. These two cards are very rare because they were pulled after a threatened lawsuit by Nabisco.

1916 Zeenut Candy Card, Jimmy Claxton, Oakland Oaks A gorgeous card, and a remarkable one considering Jimmy Claxton broke the color barrier for only two games in the Pacific Coast League in 1916.
